2009 NEW YORK SEASON AT THE AILEY CITIGROUP THEATER

   Vibrant Young Dancers to Premiere Movin’ On by Tony Award-Winning Choreographer George Faison

Ailey II’s 12 rising stars will take the stage from April 15 - 26 for 13 exciting performances of favorite works and new choreography, including the New York premiere of Tony Award-winning choreographer George Faison’s Movin’ On, set to the vibrant vocal stylings of jazz artist Betty Carter.

 

Led by Artistic Director Sylvia Waters, who is celebrating her 40th anniversary with Ailey and is a recipient of this year’s Dance Magazine award, The Ailey II name has become synonymous with exciting modern dance, dazzling style and the finest young dancers from around the world.  Ailey II’s two-week season features a “Repertory Favorites” program as well as a “New Works” program with Ailey II Associate Artistic Director Troy Powell’s Hope (The Final Rise), Sidra Bell’s Valse, and George Faison’s Movin’ On.
