CHC Announces New Executive Director
(Washington DC) – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is announcing the hiring of the organization’s new Executive Director, Patricia Villarreal. In that position, Villarreal will coordinate the legislative efforts of the bicameral twenty-four Member organization. She will particularly oversee efforts in the areas of Immigration, Civil Rights, Housing, Infrastructure, Veterans and Agriculture, among others.
“On behalf of the entire CHC, I welcome Ms. Patricia Villarreal as our new Executive Director,” said Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez, Chair of the CHC. “Patricia brings to the caucus her broad legislative experience, a deep understanding of the complex policy work here on Capitol Hill, and an appreciation of the coalition building necessary to making our work successful. She will truly be an asset to the CHC.”
Ms. Villarreal comes to the CHC after several years on the Hill, working for other CHC Members. She most recently served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the office of Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz (TX-27). Prior to that office she was a legislative assistant in the office of Congressman Ciro D. Rodriguez (TX-23), advising the Member on issues such as veterans’ affairs, homeland security, education, labor, and social security.
“As a South Texas native, Patricia knows the challenges that many of our Hispanic citizens endure. She understands the legislative process and how to effectively work with other Members, staff and organizations to promote the goals of the Hispanic community,” said Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz. “I have no doubt that she will be a tremendous asset to Chairwoman Velazquez and the CHC as we achieve our legislative priorities during the 111th Congress.”
