D.C. Lottery Tops Charts with Launch of Lotto Soul

Instant Scratcher Ticket Features Legendary Artists from Motown

Washington, D.C. Beginning today, the D.C. Lottery is giving its players plenty to sing about with the launch of Lotto Soul Legends. The $2 instant scratch ticket features some of the greatest stars of the classic soul era including The Dramatics, The Four Tops, Freda Payne, and D.C.’s own “Marvelous” Marvin Gaye!

With a cash prize payout of up to $4,500, this special limited edition ticket spotlights the performers behind some of the worlds’ best known and best loved hits including Payne’s “Band of Gold,” the Dramatics’ “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get,” The Four Tops’ “Baby I Need Your Loving,” and Gaye’s quintessential conscious melody “What’s Going On.”

Launched in commemoration of 50 years of their musical legacy and the Motown sound, the Lotto Soul instant scratcher is one of the first to primarily feature African American artists who achieved crossover success.  There will be a host of special events celebrating the ticket and its featured artists, including a public concert with the Dramatics and Freda Payne on Woodrow Wilson Plaza in June and August 2009 respectively, and autograph signings at D.C. Lottery retailer locations.

“The D.C. Lottery is honored to bring the joy, vitality, and history associated with the music of Motown to our players in the form of this exciting scratcher ticket,” said the D.C. Lottery’s Executive Director Jeffrey “Jay” Young.
