New York faith organizations announce launch of the NYS Interfaith Network for Immigration Reform

Interfaith Leaders Unite in Holy Times to Call for

Just and Humane Immigration Reform

*          *            *

APRIL 6TH PRESS CONFERENCE AT 11AM

20 New York faith organizations announce launch of the

NYS Interfaith Network for Immigration Reform

Press Contact:

Frances Liu, New York Immigration Coalition (212-627-2227 x246, 646-957-0901)

WHAT:           As Christians begin Holy Week and Jews prepare to celebrate Passover, diverse faith community leaders will call on President Obama and Congress to enact comprehensive, just and humane reform of our immigration system.

These leaders will announce the formation of the NYS Interfaith Network for Immigration Reform, a network of faith community leaders and organizations formed in order to advocate for reform through communication with Congressional leaders.  Meetings around the state are scheduled for April 13 and 14.

WHY:              Network leaders believe that only comprehensive reform can fix a broken immigration system that separates families and sows fear in immigrant communities, forces 12 million undocumented immigrants to remain in the shadows, and fails to address employers’ needs for labor and preserve the rights of American workers.

WHERE:        The Interchurch Center, Stockman Lounge (1st Floor)

Address: 475 Riverside Drive (between 119th and 120th)

**Entrance on Claremont Ave at West 120th Street
