NY Mayor To Attend Latino Trendsetters Awards


NEW YORK  - Mayor Michael Bloomberg will join CNN host Soledad O’Brien, legendary cartoonist Bill Gallo, La Mega's DJ Alex Sensation, and Pulitzer Prize winner Junot Diaz at the 2010 9th Annual Latino Trendsetter Awards on Tuesday, November 30th, at 6:00 p.m. at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square New York City.

Other prominent Latinos to be honored include Dr. Debra Joy Perez, Senior Program Officer in Research & Evaluation at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Miguel Centeno, Regional Director Northeast of Community Relations & Urban Marketing at Aetna; Armando Monterroso, Executive Chef at the New York Marriot Marquis; Ricardo R. Fernandez, President of Lehman College; Edward Montes, CEO of Adnetik; Neddy Perez, Vice President of Inclusion and Diversity at National Grid; attorney Karla Sanchez of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, LLP; Jacqueline Gonzalez, Executive Director of the Emmy Awards; Carlos Sanchez, Vice President and General Manager of WNJU Channel 47 Telemundo; and Jose Tavares of Merrill Lynch.

The event will also feature live performances by singers, dancers, comedians, & spoken word artists, including Carmelina Vargas, Goya, JC (formerly of Marcy Place) and Andy Andy.

The Latino Trendsetter Awards are presented by LatinTRENDS Magazine (formerly DTM Magazine) to recognize leaders who have made significant impact in education, entertainment, art, health and business that influence the Hispanic/Latino and mainstream community.

In keeping with our support of future trendsetters, the Latino Trendsetter Awards also awards scholarships to college students in the CUNY system. A portion of the proceeds are given to the CUNY scholarship fund for deserving students. This year’s scholarship winners are made of up by a group of young Latinas who are part of the 100 Hispanic Women leadership program.
