OPEN LETTER ~ URGENT APPEAL FROM NOW

We know there is no limit to what the enemies of women's reproductive health will do. And their attacks go far beyond abortion -- they're going after birth control, too.

Right-wingers are gearing up for their "The Pill Kills" protests this weekend, urging followers to show up at doctors' offices, pharmacies and clinics. Yes, they are saying that birth control pills cause abortions, contrary to medical understanding. And now they are dramatically over-hyping the normal risks related to the Pill by claiming that the Pill kills women!

Yes. It's sad to say, they are targeting young women who, after eight years of "abstinence only" sex mis-education, are particularly vulnerable to their propaganda. Fight back and support NOW's Campaign for Reproductive Freedom!

If a young woman listens to their outrageous lies, she will believe that taking the pill will cause everything from breast cancer, blood clots, and liver damage to urinary incontinence, without understanding the actual level of risk.

We know that the greatest danger to women's lives comes from a lack of access to good reproductive health care, including birth control and abortion -- and scientifically accurate information.

Right-wing ideologues want to take their lies and intimidation from the clinic door to the state house to the White House. NOW is working to counter the lies, supporting the kind of comprehensive education that empowers women and girls, and waging critical battles at the state and local level to prevent the passage of so-called "pharmacist conscience" laws that deny women access to birth control and emergency contraception and "fetal personhood" laws that are designed as potential Supreme Court challenges to reproductive rights.

Please send the most generous contribution you can afford. Your support is crucial to help us mobilize nationwide to fight this right-wing war against women.

For equality,

Kim Gandy
President, National Organization for Women

Reproductive Freedom Pledge
