The Conference on Crimes Against Women Announces Tony Porter and Kimya Motley of A Call to Men as Keynote Speakers

Conference will highlight the crucial need to work together to end heinous crimes against women

DALLAS, May 1, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Tony Porter, Chief Executive Officer of A Call to Men, and Kimya Motley, Chief Communications Officer of A Call to Men, will headline the 19^th annual Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW) as keynote speakers in Dallas, Texas from May 20-23, 2024. A Call to Men works to transform society by promoting healthy, respectful manhood and helping create a world where all women, girls, and those at the margins are valued and safe. Porter and Motley will present during CCAW's Opening Plenary on Monday, May 20 at 8:00 a.m. CT.

One in three women will be abused in their lifetime, and intimate partner violence alone affects more than 12 million people every year. Crime and violence against women is a devastating epidemic, and there is a crucial need for a coordinated community response. The interactive keynote will shed light on how men's socialization and silence unintentionally support those who continue to perpetrate acts of violence against women. It will also challenge and redefine men's role as bystanders before, during, and after incidents of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Porter is an author, educator, and activist working to advance gender and racial justice and create a more equitable society. Porter is internationally recognized for his efforts to prevent violence against women while promoting a healthy, respectful manhood. He is a leading voice on issues of manhood, male socialization, and preventing violence against all women and girls. Porter's 2010 TED Talk has been named by GQ Magazine as one of the "Top 10 TED Talks Every Man Should See." Porter is sought after for his in-depth understanding of the collective socialization of men and serves as an adviser to the National Football League, providing policy consultation, working extensively with player engagement, and facilitating violence prevention and healthy manhood training. He has also provided training to the National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, and Major League Baseball.

Motley is an educator, activist, author, director, and producer working to end violence against all women and girls. She has been nationally recognized for her success as a dedicated leader for victims' rights by Former Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, The Investigation Discovery Channel, the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, and more. As a brave survivor herself, Motley's story is now used in domestic violence training videos for the National Football League to educate all 32 teams. She released her memoir, "Born of Violence," which made it to number four on the Amazon Hot New Releases List for Partner Abuse.

Presented by Genesis Women's Shelter & Support and the Dallas Police Department, the Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW) is an annual in-person conference for training and education on the identification, investigation, and prosecution of all types of violent crimes against women, including domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The Conference is the largest of its kind, with more than 24,000 attendees over the last 19 years from all 50 states and multiple countries.
