Secretary Of Labor Hilda Solis Talks About Jobs On Azteca America's 'Issues: Caras y Voces'

 

 

WASHINGTON,  -- Azteca America television network is proud to feature Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis on this week's broadcast of "Issues: Caras y Voces," hosted by veteran Latino journalist Armando Guzman.

Secretary Solis was confirmed to her post in February of 2009. Prior to her position as Secretary of Labor, she representedCalifornia's 32nd District in the U.S. Congress since 2001. Her priorities in Congress included expanding access to health care, protecting the environment, and improving the lives of working families.

As the first Hispanic woman to serve as a regular cabinet member, Secretary Solis has increased the enforcement of wage and workplace protection laws, and has promoted a $150 million program to train unemployed workers in new fields.

Regarding the changing landscape of job opportunities in the United States, she said, "The changes are going to be very strong, not just within the Latino community, but throughout the entire country... We need to recognize this fact, because it is very important."

"Issues: Caras y Voces" features top leaders that impact the Latino community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzman. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzman is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington.
