NEW YORK – The annual West Indian Day Parade kicked off in the borough of Brooklyn, New York today with thousands of colorful revelers marching in dancing fashion along Eastern Parkway. It’s one of the world’s largest Caribbean cultural celebrations.
The gathering was filled with colorful costumes, Caribbean food delights and plenty of happy faces.
An early police report indicates a shooting with several people injured. No further details were immediately available. Similar parades over the past years have witnessed a number of violent acts.
