NEW YORK – Demonstrators from the New York Chinese-American community are out in force outside the United Nations building in New York, expressing the view that their homeland in China doesn’t deserve its membership in the UN Security Council because of its political hold on Tibet .

Displaying pictures of Tibetans who immolated themselves or otherwise violently protested Chinese rule over Tibet, the protestors charge the level of violence China has enacted in Tibet today is greater than when it hit record levels in 2008.

Leaflets being handed out accused China of “lies and the distortion of fact” when it maintains Tibet wants Chinese rule.
