National CBS News Analyst Jamal Simmons will serve as the Master of Ceremonies to an array of nearly 1,500 guests, including celebrities, automotive executives, ethnic organizations, media, government officials, and the multicultural community. Legendary trumpeter Rayse Biggs will perform. Immediately following the awards, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dwele will also give a special performance at the Chevrolet/OnStar AfterGlow.
A daylong event, the Urban Wheel awards will open with a "green" ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Green Car and Technology Exhibit, held prior to the awards ceremony, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibit -- which is free and open to the public -- will also showcase a collection of fuel-efficient as well as alternatively-fueled vehicles, including the latest electric and hybrid vehicles. A VIP "green carpet" and reception will be held at 5 p.m., followed by the awards at 7 p.m. The evening will conclude with the Chevrolet/OnStar AfterGlow, from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
