Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s 26-city U.S. Tour kicked off February 3^rd with a sold out week-long engagement in Washington, D.C. AAADT was honored to have President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters attend one of the 50^th Anniversary performances at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Before the tour concludes on May 24^th, the Company will travel to Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Boston and Newark among many other cities. Click for full tour schedule >>

JAMISON HONORED

Artistic Director Judith Jamison who recently appeared on CNN with Fredricka Whitfield, received The New Yorker for New York Award on Feb 24th and will be honored by City Comptroller William Thompson on Feb. 25^th. On March 7^th, Ms. Jamison will appear on a panel for Discovery Day: The African American Musical Experience. The panel discussion is a part of a series of events. The event is entitled Honor! A Celebration of the African American Cultural Legacy presented by Carnegie Hall and curated by Jessye Norman.

AILEY II JOINS AAADT IN LOS ANGELES

In celebration of Ailey’s 50^th Anniversary U.S. Tour, Ailey II looks forward to joining the Company in Los Angeles to perform for over 19,000 fifth graders March 18-20. These performances are a part of the 39^th annual Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival where students review curriculum materials about Ailey II prior to the performance and are taught a dance routine to be performed at the Los Angeles Music Center Plaza along with Ailey II. After Ailey II’s 35-city tour is completed April 4^th the Company will make its triumphant return to The Ailey Citigroup Theater for its 2-week New York season, April 15-26. FIRST AILEYCAMP IN LOS ANGELES & REVELATIONS RESIDENCIES ON AAADT TOUR

Throughout March and April, the Los Angeles Music Center will partner with Ailey and the Glorya Kaufman Dance Foundation to bring AileyCamp—an innovative program for inner-city middle school students that uses dance as a vehicle for developing self-esteem, self-discipline, creative expression and critical thinking skills—to southern California for the first time.

JP Morgan Chase will sponsor Revelations Residencies in several cities along AAADT’s U.S. Tour. Revelations Residency is an interdisciplinary approach curriculum utilizing Alvin Ailey's signature work, Revelations, as the inspirational framework for a comprehensive study of language arts, social studies and dance. Upcoming residencies include Chicago (March 16-20) and Boston (April 27-May 1).

THE AILEY SCHOOL AUDITION TOUR

The Ailey School is currently be holding auditions for all programs (Summer Intensive, Ailey/Fordham B.F.A. Program, Certificate Program, Independent Study, Fellowship Program) in many of AAADT’s U.S. tour cities. THE AILEY EXTENSION OFFERS FREE“TICKET TO DANCE”

The Ailey Extension is pleased to offer fans of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II a free "Ticket to Dance"-the opportunity to receive a complimentary Ailey Extension class with a ticket stub from any Ailey performance in the nation! The offer is valid for one year from the performance date for first time students. Returning students will receive one free class when purchasing a 10-class card for classes at the Ailey Extension in New York City.
