BlackPlanet Rising along with the New York Park Districts to host community day

BLACKPLANET RISING HOSTS A COMMUNITY DAY AT

FRED JOHNSON PARK IN HARLEM NEW YORK ON

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30th

BlackPlanet Rising along with the New York Park Districts will host a community day

on Wednesday, September 30, from at Fred Johnson Park,
7th Avenue
at
West 150th Street
.

For the month of September, BlackPlanet Rising is hosting a community day in select cities to launch their new platform www.blackplanetrising.com.  In New York, BlackPlanet Rising has partnered with the New York Park Districts to paint and clean up a tennis court and pick up litter at Fred Johnson Park in Harlem, NY.

So many African Americans in impoverished neighborhoods do not have access to private athletic facilities and by cleaning up the public courts and making them functional this project will not only make the neighborhood nicer, it will give kids who might not otherwise have a chance to play tennis the opportunity to get outside, be active and take up a wonderful sport.

BlackPlanet Rising is the first comprehensive platform to provide tools, information and connections for African Americans to give back their time and resources to the community.   The site provides users with a vast number of volunteer opportunities that reflect their geographic location, skills, and areas of interest.
