CA Senator Lauds Investments In Community Health Centers

BOXER LAUDS INVESTMENTS IN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS IN CALIFORNIA

$65 Million for Job-Creating Projects in the State

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) praised President Obama and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for their announcement that more than $65 million from the economic recovery package is headed to California to support community health centers across the state.

She attended a White House event today where the President announced nearly $600 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act awards for construction and repairs at 85 community health centers nationwide, and for new investments in health information technology.

Senator Boxer said, “These investments will not only create jobs in California in construction and health care, they will help our community health centers provide affordable, high-quality care to the families who need it most.”

Community health centers provide preventive and primary care services to more than 17 million people nationwide, about 40 percent of whom are uninsured.
