Casa Launches in Austin to Put Everyday Home Care on Autopilot, Starting with Free Donation Pickups for Austin Pets Alive! Thrift

October 5, 2026 by helpdesk1 |

For one day, the consumer tech company behind autonomous home care is opening its service to everyone in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Casa, a consumer tech company putting everyday home care on autopilot, is now available to all Austin homeowners. To mark the occasion, Casa is offering a one-day taste of its membership: free doorstep donation pickups across the city, in partnership with Austin Pets Alive! Thrift. Casa’s on-call team, which handles members’ everyday home tasks, will run the pickups on Friday, October 9.

Starting today, Austin residents can sign up for a free pickup, leave eligible donation items at their doorstep, and Casa will handle the rest. A team will travel across the city to collect the items and deliver them directly to Austin Pets Alive! Thrift.

“Our vision is simple: we’re building the autonomous home, one that takes care of itself and gives homeowners back their time and peace of mind,” said Michael York, co-founder and CEO of Casa. “That starts with the small things that quietly pile up, like the donation bag that’s been sitting by the door for months. It’s the kind of thing we handle for our members every day, and for one day in Austin, we’re opening it up to everyone. We’ll collect those donations and get them to Austin Pets Alive! Thrift, where they can do some real good.”

Casa was built to make owning a home dramatically easier. Every membership starts with a detailed scan of the home, which creates a living record of everything from its rooms and appliances to its paint colors. That record lets Casa’s AI and home Concierge stay ahead of upkeep, flagging small issues before they become expensive ones. Casa’s in-house handymen are on demand for everyday projects. For bigger jobs, the Concierge vets local experts, gathers bids and manages the work from start to finish. When something comes up, members message Casa and get real options back, not more research to do.

With Casa, members can:

  • Ask questions and get answers about their specific home
  • Build and manage a household to-do list
  • Get everyday projects handled by Casa handymen
  • Bring in vetted specialists with personalized bids when a job calls for it
  • Get concierge support for more complex projects
  • Stay ahead of seasonal and recurring maintenance, from changing bulbs and filters to cleaning gutters and getting the roof ready for winter
  • Put recurring household services on autopilot
  • Find ways to save money and avoid costly problems

How the Austin launch activation works:

  • Pickups run Friday, October 9, starting at 8:00 a.m. CT, within Austin city limits
  • Residents can sign up here until 5:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, October 8
  • Accepted items, from clothing to consoles, are listed on AustinPetsAlive.org
  • Pickups are free, and no Casa membership is required

Derrick Ernst, Director of Retail Operations, said, “Donation pickup can be one of the biggest barriers for people who want to give. With Casa handling the logistics, more donations can reach our shelves, and that directly funds the animals in our care.”

“This is one small example of what Casa does,” York added. “Tell us what needs to get done around your home, and we’ll take it from there.”
