Civil Rights Group Claims Florida Times Union Promotes Racial Tensions

FMCRC Calls on Financial Industry, Automotive and Utility Companies To Restrict Advertising In Florida Times Union Due To Attempts To Create Racial Tension Between African Americans and Latinos:

"There are census tracts in Jacksonville that are 90% minority that have unemployment rates of over 50%.  The high unemployment and poverty rates in African American communities have been climbing for past 7 years and this is not due to undocumented workers. City and State leaders have failed these families.  Yet the Jacksonville Times Union is using the Latino's as a target and prop to increase circulation by pinning the severe unemployment rate in African American areas on these undocumented workers.  We now are witnessing African Americans showing severe outrage towards Latinos in Jacksonville.  I am urging my brothers and sisters across our great country to call their corporate contacts and ask them not to advertise in this media outlet that is creating severe racial tension in Jacksonville."
