Cows Take Manhattan

Join Heifer International as 16 very funny people in cow suits with picket
signs get the attention of people in Times Square and Central Park to kick off
Pass on the Gift month.

Media Press Kit: http://heifer.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=65

Specific times and locations to meet the cows and hear what they have to
say about ending hunger and poverty by passing on the gift:

9am -12 noon: South end of Times Square, in front of the recruiting center,
intersection of Broadway, 7th Avenue and 44th

1:30pm - 3pm - North end of Times Square, behind TKTS booth, intersection
of Broadway, 7th and 47th

3:30p - 5pm - Central Park (SW corner of Park near the entrance from
Columbus Circle)

Hmmmm. What are all these cows doing in the middle of Manhattan? (Actors
in cow suits carrying picket signs that say End Hunger / Pass on the Gift)
April Fools preview? NO – it's the kick off of Heifer International's Pass on the
Gift month, a global celebration that brings together Heifer supporters and
communities around the world dedicated to ending hunger and poverty.

Here's how Pass on the Gift works: Heifer International www.heifer.org gives
farm animals and training to poor families who then agree to pass on what
they have been given to someone else in need. This is the beauty and power
of Passing on the Gift: it ensures that Heifer gifts help twice as many families,
AND that Heifer project participants progress from recipient to donor. Over
200 Pass On ceremonies will be happening in Heifer communities around the
world in April impacting over 5200 families.

At a Pass on the Gift ceremony, dignity and gratitude fill the hearts of
villagers who never imagined being able to help someone else as they pass
their calves, lambs, kids and chicks to neighbors in need. Heifer's lasting
solutions break the chain of poverty and hunger and open the way for a
better life. Here's b-roll clip of a ceremony in Nepal: http://tinyurl.com/d5v7l9

This simple concept of Pass on the Gift has changed communities around the
world for over 60 years. Heifer is asking everyone to help start a chain of
giving by hosting friends at a favorite gathering spot sometime in April and
telling them about Heifer's powerful model. Visit the Pass on the Gift page at
www.heifer.org/gifts for helpful ideas and resources. Together we can all
make a difference.
