Firm Looks To Canada To Close Achievement Gap For Black Students

Nationwide -- EDEquity Inc., the nation's premier educational consultant firm, specializes in working with school districts to improve the educational outcomes for African American students. They will soon partner with Halifax School District in Nova Scotia, Canada to close their racial achievement gap.

As President Obama continues to make education one of his highest priorities, the need to locate and implement promising practices for African American students must be at the forefront of his educational policy of Race to the Top!

Halifax School District, like many school districts in the United States, has improved test scores for many subgroups. However, African American students have remained one of the lowest achieving ethnic groups in the nation for over 50 years. EDEquity Inc. has results-driven strategies to accelerate the achievement levels of African American students by improving the quality of instructional leadership and the teaching practice. Despite budget challenges, large and small school districts have partnered with EDEquity to implement an educational Equity framework to eradicate policies and practices that prohibit African American students from maximizing their academic potential.

Dr. Edwin Javius, founder of EDEquity, is a leading expert in the area of culturally conscious leadership and teaching practices. He has motivated thousands of educators to improve their practice through riveting motivational keynotes and race/cultural conscious professional development. EDEquity's results have been featured at many of the nations' premier educational conferences. Districts and schools utilize Dr. Javius for his expertise in the area of educational equity.
