LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — New York-based menswear brand HIROMI ASAI will present an expanded 20-look version of its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, “Akatsuki — Before the Dawn,” at Los Angeles Fashion Week on October 9, 2026.
Designer Hiromi Asai is known for combining contemporary menswear design with Japanese craftsmanship. Since 2017, she has worked with Japanese Kimono textile craftsmen to develop original fabrics using traditional techniques, bringing them into modern tailoring, distinctive silhouettes and unexpected details. Asai first presented authentic Kimonos at New York Fashion Week in 2016 before turning her focus to menswear.
SPRING/SUMMER 2027: “AKATSUKI — BEFORE THE DAWN”
“Akatsuki — Before the Dawn” is inspired by the quiet moment when a long night begins to give way to the first signs of light. Akatsuki is a Japanese word for the time just before dawn — when the world is still dark and the sun has yet to appear, but a new day is already beginning beyond the horizon.
The Spring/Summer 2027 collection translates that idea into contemporary menswear through color, silhouette, movement and detail. Tailored pieces and more fluid forms move between restraint and drama, while original Japanese textiles add texture, pattern and subtle shifts of light. Nature-inspired motifs appear alongside bold patterns and traditional auspicious designs, creating clothes that feel both distinctly Japanese and contemporary.
A NEW PRESENTATION FOR LOS ANGELES
Following presentations in New York and Paris, HIROMI ASAI will show “Akatsuki” in a different form in Los Angeles. The 20-look lineup includes completely new designs being shown publicly for the first time, Spring/Summer 2027 looks recently seen in New York and Paris, and selected pieces from previous HIROMI ASAI collections that have never been shown in Los Angeles. With the city’s red-carpet culture in mind, the lineup puts a stronger focus on statement silhouettes, sharp tailoring and evening looks, alongside more expressive pieces that combine contemporary design with Japanese craftsmanship.
Together, the 20 looks offer a broader view of HIROMI ASAI — from refined tailoring to more dramatic forms — while sharing the central feeling of “Akatsuki”: darkness beginning to give way to light.
