Spring/Summer 2027 Menswear Collection Brings Japanese Kimono Textile Craftsmanship to Paris Fashion Week
PARIS, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Following its presentation in New York, HIROMI ASAI brings its Spring/Summer 2027 Men’s Collection, “Akatsuki — Before the Dawn,” to Paris on October 7, 2026. The collection will be presented at Hôtel Le Marois, a historic private mansion in the heart of Paris, providing an elegant new setting for the brand’s Japanese textile craftsmanship and contemporary menswear.
Since 2017, designer Hiromi Asai has collaborated with Japanese Kimono textile craftsmen, bringing centuries-old textile techniques into contemporary menswear. Asai first presented authentic Kimonos at New York Fashion Week in 2016.
SPRING/SUMMER 2027: “AKATSUKI — BEFORE THE DAWN”
HIROMI ASAI’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection is inspired by the quiet moment when a long night begins to give way to the first signs of light. Akatsuki is a Japanese word for the time just before dawn — when the world is still dark and the sun has yet to appear, but a new day is already beginning beyond the horizon.
The eight-look collection traces this transition through color, moving from deep navy, charcoal and earthy tones toward soft whites and luminous neutrals. Working with Japanese Kimono textile craftsmen in Tango, one of Japan’s historic silk-weaving regions, HIROMI ASAI developed new textiles specifically for the collection. Many feature nuitori, a traditional technique in which decorative threads are woven into the fabric, creating depth, texture and subtle shifts of light as the garments move.
At the heart of “Akatsuki” is kacho-fugetsu, the Japanese appreciation of nature and the changing seasons. Nature-inspired motifs appear alongside bold panther patterns, graphic checks and traditional auspicious designs. As dawn approaches, nature awakens and life begins to stir — a sense of renewal that runs throughout the collection.
Following its New York presentation, “Akatsuki” takes on a different character in Paris. The historic interiors of Hôtel Le Marois offer a striking backdrop for the collection, allowing the textures, patterns and movement of the Japanese textiles to be seen in a new light.
