Hollywood Black Film Festival Announces 2010 Dates

The dates for the 11th Annual Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF) will be June 1-6, 2010 in Beverly Hills, Calif.  The announcement was made by Tanya Kersey, HBFF's Founder & Executive Director.

HBFF, dubbed "The Black Sundance," is an annual 6-day celebration of black cinema drawing together established and rising filmmakers, popular film and television stars, writers, industry executives, emerging artists and diverse audiences from Southern California and around the world. Attracting such stars and industry insiders as Academy Award® winners Sidney Poitier and Forest Whitaker, John Singleton, Cedric The Entertainer, George Tillman, Ice-T, Rev. Run (of Run DMC), Bill Duke, Benny Boom, Loretta Devine, Derek Luke, Obba Babatunde, Anthony Anderson, Blair Underwood, Sanaa Lathan, Rockmond Dunbar, Loretta Devine, Bill Duke, Sheryl Underwood, Vanessa Williams, Clifton Powell and Gina Ravera, the festival has become a hotbed for the Black Hollywood community.

Since its inception in 1999, HBFF has screened a total of 721 independent films. In addition to screening feature, short, student, documentary, animation and music video film projects, HBFF's Infotainment Conference features dozens of informational seminars, panels and workshops covering a wide variety of topics and featuring more than 100 "industry insiders" participating in the talk-show style panels, roundtable discussions and workshops. The Storyteller Competitions Live Staged Reading showcases the work of the 3 finalist scripts in the festival's storyteller competition.

In keeping with it's commitment to support the creative community, in addition to the annual film festival, HBFF has created complementary platforms to showcase and develop filmmakers' projects -- the HBFF Cinema Lounge and HBFF Film Finance & Distribution Summit. The HBFF Cinema Lounge is a casual monthly networking and screening program that screens 4 to 5 short films followed by audience feedback and Q&A with the filmmakers. The annual HBFF Film Finance & Distribution Summit boasts a senior roster of seasoned industry professionals offering their insights on a broad range of film finance and distribution topics.  The 3rd Annual Film Finance & Distribution Summit is scheduled for October 10, 2009 in Beverly Hills, CA.
