NEW YORK – A street demonstration in Brooklyn, New York today saw the arrest of a City Councilwoman and scores of protestors demanding an end to a potential building site for homeless people.

The homeless shelter would be erected in a mostly minority section of the Boro. The residents in the neighborhood said they worry about the impact of the homeless facility on the community and call for additional housing not shelters.

The community also said they were deprived the right to vote on the shelter plans.
