In The Way Of Wealth, Billionaire Entrepreneur Michael Lee-Chin Reveals The Strategies, Sacrifices and Struggles Behind His Success

October 22, 2026 by helpdesk1 |

TORONTO, Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — What are the chances that a boy born to an eighteen-year-old orphan mother in Port Antonio, Jamaica, would rise to become one of the world’s most influential business leaders? In The Way of Wealth: Stories and Strategies on My Path to a Billion (Collins/HarperCollins), Michael Lee-Chin answers that question by sharing the principles, experiences, and decisions that shaped his path.

Seated on the “dunce” side of his classroom at age nine, Lee-Chin went on to win one of only two full scholarships in his class, study engineering at McMaster University, and become one of the world’s few Black billionaires. He recounts borrowing $500,000 to invest in a company others overlooked, building AIC Limited into a firm managing about $15 billion in assets at business peak, and returning home in 2002 to acquire Jamaica’s struggling National Commercial Bank.

Throughout the book, Lee-Chin recounts pivotal experiences that shaped his philosophy, from working as a young boy in Jamaica to navigating the complexities of investment management, business acquisitions and financial crises. One of the book’s central messages is that adversity can become the foundation for extraordinary opportunity.

“I have learned that opportunities knock daily, but they often come clad in crisis.”

More than a memoir, the book reveals the principles that guided Lee-Chin’s investment and business decisions, including his Five Laws of Wealth Creation, illustrated through the stories of how he applied them throughout his life and career.

“Everything I have built, from AIC to Portland, from financial services to nuclear medicine, has been governed by three interconnected frameworks,” Lee-Chin says. “This is not theory. It is lived experience.”

The book is dedicated to his mother, Hyacinth Gloria Chen, whose courage and sacrifice shaped his path.

The Way of Wealth will be available October 27 in hardcover, e-book, and audiobook wherever books are sold and can be pre-ordered now. Michael Lee-Chin is available for interviews.
