NEW YORK – From all reports, this year’s annual Israeli Day Parade down New York’s Fifth Avenue had hundreds of thousands of participants and spectators. What has generally gone unreported is the minority group involvement in the parade.

New York State’s highest ranking black elected official, Attorney General Letitia James was a featured participant.

Despite New York City’s Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s decision not to attend, the first time in six decades that a NYC Mayor declined to attend, a delegation of Muslims did attend and made their presence known.

The nature of the minority representation also included a colorfully dressed group of Chinese New Yorkers.
