LATINO Magazine to Host Latino Issues Forum on Health

 

 

 

Washington, DC - To explore the impact of health reform on the Latino community, LATINO Magazine will present a Latino Issues Forum at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, September 23 at the St. Regis Hotel. The event will begin with a networking reception in the elegant hotel’s outdoor terrace. Following this, there will be a panel in the Astor Ballroom moderated by Alfredo Estrada, LATINO Magazine’s editor-in-chief, on health issues relevant to Latinos, specifically diabetes. Guests will then participate in a roundtable discussion to be covered in the upcoming issue of LATINO Magazine.


Recent events have moved this issue into the headlines so the discussion is sure to be insightful. Panelists and speakers include Mirtha Beadle, Deputy Director of the Office of Minority Health: Elena Rios, president of the National Hispanic Medical Association; JoAnn Lamphere, Director of State Government Relations, Health, AARP; and Carmen Ramos, founder of Celebra la Vida con Salud. The audience will include a cross-section of the Latino leadership in our nation’s capital, drawing upon the public and private sectors and Hispanic organizations.


Sponsored by the Office of Minority Health and AARP, this Latino Issues Forum is open to all. Complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvre will be served at 5:30 PM. Attire is business casual. All attendees will receive a free issue of LATINO Magazine.
