Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi Announces a New Qigong Basics Course at Nationwide Locations

MESA, Ariz. , April 26 /Businesswire/ - Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi is currently offering a special online course introducing the basics of qigong. Qigong is a traditional practice from East Asia that supports overall health and wellness for the body, mind, and soul. At its core, the practice encourages awareness of qi, or energy, and teaches students how to balance that energy through meditation, breathwork, visualization, and mindful movements.

Body & Brain classes are offered in over 80 locations across the United States, along with online courses and coaching sessions for those who aren’t near a physical location. The new Qigong Basics course makes it possible for anyone to connect with the Body & Brain practice from anywhere in the United States.

Although qigong is an ancient practice, it is easy to adapt to online classes. The practice helps participants engage their natural vital energy and free the energy blockages that lead to mental and physical discomfort. Qigong students learn how to listen to their bodies, cultivate a sense of mindfulness, and integrate the teachings of qigong into everyday life.

The six-week Qigong Basics course will introduce essential principles and techniques of qigong along with a simple form (series of postures and movements) to memorize. The movements and postures stimulate the energy system of the body, including the chakras, meridians, and energy points, to improve overall wellness.

Some benefits of qigong include enhanced balance, leg strength, and breathing. Additionally, qigong can help with stress management. It may also help lower blood pressure and ease certain arthritic pain. Qigong is gentle enough for all ages and conditions but can also benefit athletes, fitness enthusiasts, experienced yoga practitioners, and martial artists.

Qigong helps people of all ages and fitness levels to better understand their bodies through a series of natural movements and breathing techniques. Even those who haven’t exercised regularly for a while will enjoy the slow, gentle movements and positive focus of qigong.

The online course makes it possible to comprehensively learn basic techniques and enjoy the whole-body benefits of qigong without ever having to leave home.

The Qigong Basics course will be taught by David Driscoll, a Body & Brain National Qigong Trainer. The class begins Saturday, May 11, and continues each Saturday at 9 a.m. PT through June 15. Each session will be 70 minutes long. Recordings of each online session will be available for registrants to practice with between the weekly live sessions.

Interested participants can find more information or register for Qigong Basics online. A $25 Introduction to Qigong webinar will be offered on World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, April 27, at 9 a.m. PT for those who are interested in learning more about the course.
