More than 50 Organizing Centers Preparing for National
March on Wall Street
Demand: Bail Out the People, Not the Banks

Organizers with the Bail Out the People Movement announced
today that there are more than 50 organizing centers
building for the April 3 & 4 National March on Wall
Street.

"We've got organizing centers in Detroit, Miami,
Philadelphia, Boston, and dozens of other cities, as well
as more than 25 centers in the New York City & northern
New Jersey area. Each of these centers is distributing
leaflets and posters, planning transportation, and helping
to get the word out about the April 3 & 4 March on Wall
Street," said Larry Holmes, an organizer with the Bail Out
the People Movement. "we're hearing from folks every day
who are asking 'How can I get involved?' People realize
that the TARP and the stimulus package do almost nothing
to help working people who have been laid off or who are
facing foreclosure. They know that trillions of dollars
are being given away to banks and wealthy CEOs. We need
that money for a real jobs program, health care, and
affordable housing."

"We're marching on April 3 & 4," Holmes continued, "which
is the anniversary of the murder of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. He spent the last days of his life supporting
the striking sanitation workers in Memphis. Just as King
knew that the struggle for civil rights at home had to
also be part of the struggle against war abroad, he
understood that no one, regardless of their race would be
free until everyone had the right to a decent paying job
or an income for those unable to work."

Organizers say that the events will be kicked off with
rallies at 1 pm on both days, April 3 & 4, at the
Intersection of Wall & Broad Streets in New York City, in
front of the Stock Exchange.
