His most recent book, a novel, is the story of “a little Black kid who grew up in southern California to become a doctor and poet, eventually learning to summon the living force of poetry itself into a body and personality.” They tour the world together, meet many remarkable people, including other deeply human, open individuals, as well as other searching, mythic and spiritual personalities.
