 “A tour-de-force.”

New York Post

New York, NY  The newly launched Summer Solos Series (Scott Morfee and Darren Lee Cole, producers), a celebration of the best in solo performance and shows by acclaimed playwrights and performers, presents a one-night only return performance of the critically acclaimed Off Broadway hit, Nilaja Sun’s No Child…, on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street).  Immediately following the performance there will be a brief reception with the artist in the Huron Club, located inside the Soho Playhouse.

Among the many accolades Sun received for writing and performing No Child… are an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, the John Gassner “Outstanding New American Play” Award, a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show, a Theatre World Award, an Obie as well as the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival Jury Award for Best One Person Show, Boston’s Elliot Norton Award, Chicago’s Joseph Jefferson Award, Washington DC’s Helen Hayes Award and Los Angeles’ Ovation and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle awards.

Written and performed by Nilaja Sun, this tour-de-force theatrical event received some of the most rhapsodic reviews when it received its world premiere at the Epic Theater Ensemble.  “The show of the year!  An unexpected, superb achievement.  Ms. Sun’s gloriously uncynical gem reaches greatness,” declared The New York Observer when it opened at the Barrow Street Theatre in July, 2006 and concluded with, “She has offered hope and belief in a better, saner world.  Her schoolkids are lucky to have her.  So are we.”  The New York Times simply stated, “A marvelous performance - touching and funny.”

Directed by Hal BrooksNo Child… played to wildly enthusiastic crowds, including thousands of high school students and educators, and garnered over 300 performances when the show concluded its Off Broadway run.  No Child… has subsequently toured the United States and now returns to NYC for this special one-night only performance.

Tickets are $35 with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Spalding Gray Scholarship Fund, and may be purchased by visiting the Soho Playhouse website at www.sohoplayhouse.com or by calling (212) 691-1555.  For Group Sales, please emailboxoffice@sohoplayhouse.com or call (212) 691-1555.
