25 Holocaust Survivors

Judge Frank Schwelb

and Outstanding Public Interest Law Students

at Howard University School of Law

and

Dave Clarke Law School at the University of the District of Columbia

 

The 24th  Annual Olender Foundation Awards will be held at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, December 2 at 11:00 a.m.

 

A group of twenty-three Holocaust survivors will be honored as the Men and Women of Valor and fellow survivor and world renowned Cantor Moshe  Taubé will perform a cantorial tribute in their honor.  The Olender Foundation’s Advocate for Justice Award will go to civil rights activist and founder of the African American Civil War Memorial Freedom Foundation and Museum Dr. Frank Smith and Freedom Rider and fellow activist Reverend Reginald Green.  From the D.C. Court of Appeals, Honorable Frank Schwelb, who is also a Holocaust survivor, will be honored with the Foundation’s Hero in Law Award for his dedication to justice, equality and the under-served.

The show will be emceed by radio personality and human rights activist, Joe Madison, known to his listeners as “The Black Eagle.”  Singer Debra Tidwell, accompanied by the jazz ensemble, Greg Twombley and the Washingtonians, will present the musical program, “Klezmer, Gospel and Jazz.”

 

As is customary with the Olender Foundation Awards, in tribute to the honorees, Olender Foundation grants will be given to the African American Civil War Memorial Freedom FoundationNational Holocaust Museum, Operation Understanding and scholarships to outstanding law students at the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law and Howard University Law School.

 

The Awards will be hosted by Washington malpractice attorney, Jack Olender, President of the Olender Foundation, and his wife, Lovell Olender. Mr. Olender is one of the nation’s leading malpractice attorneys and a much sought after legal commentator.

 

Following the Awards, honorees, and guests will dine in the Presidential Ballroom.
