The reopening of the Yokohama Museum of Art adds another innovative and distinctive venue for events in Yokohama

YOKOHAMA, Japan , March 28 /Businesswire/ - After extensive renovations, the iconic Yokohama Museum of Art has reopened its doors to visitors from all over the world. The museum’s reopening paves the way to new and closer collaboration with international events in Yokohama. This extraordinary venue is the ideal setting for a one-of-a-kind gathering, in part, supported by the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (hereinafter YCVB).

The Yokohama Museum of Art

Founded in 1989, the Yokohama Museum of Art collects over 14,000 works of art that reflect the many facets of life in Yokohama—past, present, and future.

The reopening of the museum coincides with the Yokohama Triennale, an international exhibition featuring contemporary artists whose decentralized exhibits turn the entire metropolis into an art museum. The 8th Yokohama Triennale is being held from March 15 to June 9, 2024, with the Yokohama Museum of Art being a pivotal venue for the exhibition.

With the museum firmly back on the map as Yokohama’s leading artistic venue, YCVB plans to showcase the space by holding innovative events there. The Yokohama Museum of Art’s striking modernist architecture and bold, open galleries provide the perfect backdrop for any event.

YCVB’s catalogue of unique venues

Yokohama is especially suited to MICE (meeting, incentive, conference/convention, and event/exhibition), with venues that elevate any gathering to an unparalleled experience to be remembered. From iconic landmarks rentable for private functions to buildings that are hidden gems, Yokohama’s venues top the list of locations that elevate, enchant, and exalt.

Whether it is hosting an out-of-this-world presentation at the Konica Minolta Planetaria Yokohama, welcoming MICE participants at the historic Hotel New Grand, enchanting guests with the traditional Japanese beauty of Sankeien Garden, or holding a harborside party at The Wharf House Yamashita Koen, YCVB can provide the ideal venue for any event.

About Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau

The Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCVB) works to internationalize and reinvigorate the Yokohama area by drawing on the resources of the City of Yokohama and Kanagawa Prefecture. YCVB’s goal is to promote this modern, accessible region as a destination that is appealing to tourists and ideal for international conventions.
