Lewis, M.D., a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and elbow care, to its Brookhaven office. Dr. Lewis brings extensive experience treating complex conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity, including nerve and tendon injuries, fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, wounds and infections.
Dr. Lewis completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at The Indiana Hand Center and has particular clinical interests in upper extremity spasticity and complex peripheral nerve injuries. He treats a wide range of conditions, including carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, hand and wrist arthritis, traumatic nerve injuries, brachial plexus injuries and painful neuromas associated with amputation.
His surgical expertise includes carpal and cubital tunnel releases, fracture repair, joint fusion and arthroplasty, tendon repair and transfers, nerve repair and transfers, denervation, arthroscopy, and wound and infection management. For patients with upper extremity spasticity related to stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and neurodegenerative conditions, he performs procedures such as tendon lengthening and releases, hyperselective neurectomies, joint fusions and Botox injections.

Before joining Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta, Dr. Lewis served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Atrium Health and was part of the teaching staff for the OrthoCarolina Hand Fellowship and Atrium Health/Carolinas Medical Center Orthopedic Surgery Residency. He has also held leadership positions with OrthoCarolina, including President and Chairman of the Board, and has served in committee roles with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Lewis is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His clinical and research interests have contributed to numerous publications in the areas of hand surgery, peripheral nerve injuries, wrist and radius fractures, spasticity and upper extremity reconstruction.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys woodworking, drumming, fishing, hiking, video production, photography and weight training. He has played drums since he was 12 years old and has performed with several bands. He also volunteers with Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue and has an interest in supporting individuals affected by spinal cord injuries and stroke through community and educational outreach.
