San Francisco Asian TV Cracks "Bamboo Ceiling"


LIVERMORE, CA - In a live in-studio interview for Comcast Hometown Network - 104’s “Upside’, in line with the recent commemoration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, New America Media News Anchor Odette Keeley spoke with representatives from a new Asian-American television and online network headquartered in Redwood City, California MYX TV. The network defines itself as a premiere music, entertainment and lifestyle channel for Asian Americans and airs all over the San Francisco Bay Area on COMCAST as well as nationwide on cable.

Asian News,  Asian American News, Asian Pacific Islander News, Minority News, Civil Rights, Discrimination, Racism, Diversity, Racial Equality, Bias, EqualityMiguel Santos, Head of MYX TV and Keesa Ocampo, Corporate Affairs Officer for ABS-CBN International [The Filipino Channel] explained how the channel’s cutting-edge programming, including Korean pop or K-Pop, aims to break the industry’s “bamboo” ceiling by presenting a wider array of fresh, Asian-American talent and voices to a mainstream audience.

MYX TV was recently lauded via a prestigious CableFAXIES 2011 award by premiere industry publisher, “CableFax.” The award was for Outstanding Multicultural Marketing for the network’s 2010 concert, “MYX Mash,” featuring Asian, Asian-American and mainstream artists including Grammy-winner Bruno Mars, Korean pop sensation the Brown-Eyed Girls and T-Pain.

MYX TV continues to keep growing with a new partnership with Soompi, the world’s largest and longest-running English online media that provides complete coverage of Korean pop culture or K-Pop.
