Rockville, MD- Racial and ethnic health disparities is one of the most pressing issues facing many Americans today. Minority populations, defined as African Americans, American Indian and Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Hispanics, Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders, have high rates of chronic diseases, higher mortality for many diseases, and poorer health outcomes than the general
Recognizing the need for a coordinated national effort, the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Minority Health, committed to holding summits that would bring together leaders and representatives from community- and faith-based organizations; local, tribal, state, and federal governments; academia; health care providers and systems; medical and health associations; and private sector organizations on actions to more efficiently and effectively address health disparities. This third national leadership summit will highlight priorities and actions identified by these stakeholders and critical considerations for improving health and healthcare outcomes.
