WASHINGTON – This Earth Day – Wednesday, April 22 – U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis and White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley will shine a light on the important role that women will play in our green economy by hosting a roundtable with 35 representatives of labor, businesses both large and small, academia, advocacy groups and other green economy experts.
Green jobs are playing a critical role in the nation’s economic recovery. They are essential to re-starting the economy and putting Americans back to work, as well as boosting America’s energy independence. From refurbishing aging buildings and industries to building future green cities, women have a vital role to play with their hands, minds and innovation. During this first-of-its-kind roundtable, experts on women and green jobs from across the United States will share strategies for ensuring access to all the green economy has to offer.
