NEW YORK - Vice President Kamala Harris today visited the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corp's Economic Solutions Center in downtown Brooklyn to see how the Center helps expand access to capital and community development. She was accompanied by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge to also publicize the Biden administration's investments in minority and underserved communities, small businesses and financial institutions.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams joined the group. The occasion was marked with the announcement of an investment of tens of billions from a group of 23 companies and foundations to assist underserved communities.
The Vice President said: "Community lenders are uniquely positioned to fill the gaps that traditional banks either can or will not address. The folks who run these institutions, many of whom I've met here, often work and live in the very communities they serve.
They see clearly their community's needs and its challenges. They understand their community and they see their community's strength and opportunities."
