The full-length feature is adapted from the acclaimed novel The Collaborator by Mirza Waheed
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Vision Films Inc. will release the critically acclaimed feature film Line Of Control on Transactional VOD throughout the United States and Canada on October 6, 2026, through a deal with Scott J. Jones and Artist View Entertainment.
Line Of Control is based on The Collaborator, the acclaimed debut novel by Mirza Waheed, set in Kashmir in 1993 during the insurgency. Told through the experiences of a Kashmiri Muslim teenager caught between militants and the Indian Army, the film offers a deeply personal perspective on the political unrest, violence and atrocities surrounding the Line of Control – the boundary separating Indian-administered Kashmir from Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Watch the official trailer HERE.
Written and directed by Travis Hodgkins, Line Of Control is produced by Rashaana Shah and Cristy Coors Beasley and executive produced by Chaitra Vedullapalli, Joseph Lanius, Namrata Sharma, and Swetha Pakala. Although rooted in a specific and emotionally charged period of history, the film reflects conflicts that continue to unfold around the world over religion, land, identity, and loyalty.
Synopsis: During the Kashmir insurgency in 1993, a teenage boy’s best friend disappears amid the escalating violence. Determined to find him, the boy is coerced into working for an Indian Army captain, entering fields of fallen fighters to recover identification cards and weapons. Pushed to the edge and confronted with impossible choices that test his morality, loyalty, and sense of self, he discovers the true meaning of friendship, loss, and survival.
The international cast includes Rudi Dharmalingam (The Lazarus Project, Our Girl, The Split, Wakefield), Nitin Ganatra (EastEnders, Sweetpea), Vikram Kapadia (The Night Manager—Indian adaptation, Made In Heavan), Nikhil Singh Rai (Call the Midwife) and Georgian Indian model and emerging actress Anastasia Jairath.
The production consulted representatives of the Indian Army to help ensure military accuracy. Principal photography took place in the Caucasus Mountains of Georgia, where the filmmakers received military support and protection from the Georgian Army because of ongoing tensions in the region.
Lise Romanoff, CEO and Managing Director of Vision Films shares, “Line of Control is an emotional and impactful story of a tragic conflict that is unfortunately, all too familiar throughout history and around the world. It is important that these stories are shared as reminders of survival and rebirth.”
“Mirza Waheed’s novel refuses to reduce Kashmir to a headline,” said writer-director Travis Hodgkins. “What moved me was the deeply human story of a young man struggling to preserve his conscience when every possible choice carries a cost. I hope the film allows audiences to feel the weight of that experience.”
“Bringing Line Of Control to the screen demanded extraordinary commitment from everyone involved,” said producer Rashaana Shah. “We are proud that audiences across North America will now have the opportunity to discover this story and the remarkable work of our cast and crew.”
The film enjoyed rave reviews from outlets including Kashmir Times, Outlook India, Take 2 Indie Review and more. Its celebrated international festival run began with a world premiere at the San Diego International Film Festival followed by its Asian premiere at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai and screened at the UK Asian Film Festival in London, the Joburg Film Festival in South Africa, the Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan, and the Antakya Film Festival in Turkey.
Line Of Control will be available to rent or purchase beginning October 6, 2026, on major digital platforms, including iTunes/Apple TV, AmazonInstant, Google Play and Fandango at Home, as well as participating cable platforms throughout the United States and Canada.
