NEW YORK – New Yok City’s famed Fifth Avenue was transformed today into a sea of Puerto Rican flags, dancing and signing as the 69th annual Puerto Rican day parade got underway.
Tens of thousands of participants dressed in colorful outfits were observed by an equal number of spectators. The flavor of Puerto Rico seamed to encompass the whole city.
The Grand Marshal of today’s parade was Daddy Yankee, a five-time Latin Grammy award winner who helped transform Reggaeton into a global movement and continues as one of Puerto Rico’s major cultural ambassadors.
The King of this year’s parade was actor and musician Anthony Ramos. He is best known for his major role in the play Hamilton.
